Shooting Dune
Wed, April 18, 2012 at 10:30 AM

The chap in these last two pics is the author of Dune, Mr Frank Herbert who was understandably delighted with the cinematic adaptation of his work. Dune still stands up today and I recommend a watch at least once every six months.

Exceptional posts this week. So much gold. Keep them comming!
Such an underrated movie, one of the best looking science fiction films ever. Lynch rarely even mentions it but it must have been incredible for an artist like him to have almost unlimited resources and an amazing team behind him. Whenever I see I someone slagging this film off or see a list of science fiction films that omits Dune I can't help but think "idiots!".
Oh, what this movie could have been, with a director that actually read the book, or understood sci-fi. David Lynch is a huge joke. None of his movies make any sense, his show, twin peaks, also made no sense. David Lynch is a over-rated director.
For him to get hired to direct Dune, what a disgrace.
Lost Highway anyone? Oh, another David Lynch movie, that makes NO SENSE.
@Teehee - what about "The Elephant Man"? An amazingly poignant, sensitive account of a true story. David Lynch is a terrific director & you are talking out of your arse.
It's funny, I've been inspired to re-watch Dune recently too, it's still one of my favourites. I've been playing the old Sega CD game, which borrowed a lot of visuals from the film (and added a haunting, hallucinatory soundtrack).
Actually, lynch was about the only director fit to make Dune...and he did one helluva job! He understood perfectly what the books where about and his baroque interpretation of the universe Herbert created is spot on.
@ Teehee - I think your missing out on some real great movies by David Lynch. What about Wild At Heart, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Dr. Sorry..you fail.
